The University of Victoria (UVic), established in 1963 by the British Columbia government, is a public university in Canada, located in the beautiful city of Victoria in British Columbia. The University of Victoria is the oldest post-secondary institute in British Columbia. It has consistently ranked among top universities in Canada. Initially incorporated as an affiliated institution of McGill University, the university gained its recognition as a public research institution in 1963. Covered in 403 acres, it has one of Canada's biggest campuses. UVic has more than 5,000 employees, including 900 full-time faculty members. Universities have filed 580+ patents and have disclosed 1145 inventions to date. The university offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in business, education, engineering and computer science, fine arts, health, humanities, law, science, social sciences, and graduate studies.
